Internships in Bosnia and Herzegovina
 
Duration: 3 months (90 days), starting in September 2019 at the latest

Intern’s subsistence allowance: 1200 EUR per month (incl. travel costs, insurance and accommodation)

CARE Czech Republic and Amica Educa are looking for an intern to join the organization for 3 months.

About Amica Educa

Amica Educa, Tuzla, that was initially established to help women and children traumatized by the war, but throughout the years has developed into a center that provides educational and psychosocial services to citizens. The organization also engages in non-formal education and social inclusion of marginalized groups.

Position location: Tuzla

Job description: The intern would be expected to take part and support all activities of the Association (in accordance with lingual competences) with readiness to work with flexible approach to working hours, needs to be a team player and work with different team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • B.A. in social sciences/humanities (social work, psychology, pedagogy etc.);

About Budućnost, Modriča

Budućnost Modriča is focused on the promotion and protection of women’s and human rights. It runs a safe-house for women and children victims of domestic violence and men’s center that provides psycho-social rehabilitation and counselling for couples and men, including perpetrators of violence. Budućnost Modriča also engages in advocacy and works on the prevention of gender based violence and women economic empowerment.

Društvo ujedinjenih građanskih akcija (DUGA), Sarajevo, is association that provides psycho-social, educational and rehabilitation services for children, youth and parents. It works with teachers and representatives of relevant public institutions on the development of skills builds capacities of parents’ associations in order to support the social inclusion of marginalized children (including children with disabilities).

CARE Czech Republic and association “UCPD Goražde ” are looking for a volunteer/intern to join the organization for 3 months.

About UCPD Goražde
Udruženje oboljelih od cerebralne paralize i distrofije Bosansko-podrinjskog kantona Goražde / Association of Persons Ill from Cerebral Paralysis and Dystrophy  (UCPD), is a citizens’ association that provides support to persons with cerebral paralysis and muscular dystrophy. The main activities include improving the employability of beneficiaries through an income-generating workshop they have organized. Furthermore, association provides material support, support in accessing education, providing rehabilitation, and other types of support activities for and with beneficiaries and members. 

Position location: Goražde

Job Description: The Intern will join a vibrant team in a 22 year old organisation though practical engagement on activities engaging persons with disabilities caused by cerebral paralysis and dystrophy. The work would include participation in work therapy.

Requirements:

  • Relevant B.A., defectology of related academic profile is an asset;
  • Basic knowledge about working with persons with cerebral paralysis and dystrophy;

CARE Czech Republic and Sarajevo Open Centre are looking for an intern from the Czech Republic

to join a young team and vibrant working environment and gain specific skills and knowledge related to human rights of LGBTI persons, human rights of women and gender equality. Through mentoring and practical work, the intern is expected to support the organisation with organisation of events and activities.

About Sarajevski otvoreni centar
Sarajevski otvoreni centar (SOC), Sarajevo, is association advocates for access to rights and the social inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people and women. It implements activities in the community, educates public officials, law enforcement and legal professionals on LGBTI rights, hate-crimes and anti-discrimination and provides legal and peer counselling, as well as psychological counselling for LGBTI.

About Otaharin
Udruženje građana za promociju obrazovanja Roma “Otaharin”, Bijeljina is civic organization that engages in the socio-economic inclusion of Roma minority on local and national level including support to the inclusion of Roma children and youth in the educational system and raising the awareness of Roma parents of their rights and possibilities. It runs a daycare center for children at risk. It engages in income-generating activities to empower women and Roma returnees in their (re)integration efforts.  

Position location: Bijeljina

Job description:

  • Explores opportunities for establishing relations needed for reach out the public and adequate niches on the market;
  • Maintains/updates web site of the organisation and social media profiles;
  • Proposes campaigns and/or events that can contribute to further articulation of Otaharin’s profile towards both the wider public and target groups;
  • Contributes to writing talking points and speeches for public events which represent the organisation and its activities;

Association of Citizens „Nešto više“ is looking for agronomist or permaculturist, who is focused on developing and promoting environmental-friendly farming practices.

Based in East Sarajevo and Mostar, Nešto više works with different marginalized population groups and seeks to improve their social status and socio-economic inclusion by advocating for the access to rights and providing persons with disabilities and others employment and income generation opportunities through a social enterprises. They run subsidiary income-generating entity EkoDizajn that engages in organic production.

Position location: Farm owned by Citizens’ Association „Nešto Više“ in Humilišani, Mostar

Job description:

  • Daily work on the farm – greenhouses, orchards and open field – detailed tasks depend on season, type of crop and weather conditions; (max. 40 hours/week)
  • Participating on planning and implementing landscaping projects outside of the farm.
  • Interested in possible educational presentations, workshops, and trainings for different target groups – agricultural producers, people with disabilities, pupils etc.
  • Participate in process of plan development for planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques in accordance with ecological and permacultural principles;
  • Researching and promoting environmental-friendly farming practices or products that diminish the effects of changes in soil, climate, and weather or prevent damage from pests;
  • Assisting with the plant selection process and the development of planting and irrigation schedules and timelines;
  • Keeping detailed records regarding crops;
  • Desk research in permaculture approaches, applying permaculture at the farm (suggest solutions to challenges noticed at the field);
     

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Environmental Studies or related field.
  • Proficiency in English (knowledge of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is an advantage)
  • Ability to work outside, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability and willingness to work individually and in a team.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and diagnostic scientific software.
  • Good active listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good research, decision making, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Awareness of trends in agriculture environmental protection, technology, and developments.
  • Ability to live and work at the farm, take basic care about animals (cats, dogs, chicken), and manage everyday activities in environmental friendly manners (saving energy and water, recycling, composting, etc.).
